Mathews
We
are proud to have Dr Sajen Mathews, an alumnus of 1985 batch as
one of our members. Dr Mathews is serving as a Gastroenterologist
at St Jude’s Medical Centre, California.
He
has just been awarded the ‘Values in Action’ award of that institution
after a short six year stint there.
The

graduated in 1969-70. He has had a distinguished career as vascular
surgeon/teacher/researcher/inventor having authored a chapter
on vascular surgery, and having a innovative surgery
to his credit , patented a "Rai catheter",
and has been honored with several prestigious awards.
During his college days, he was known for his cricketing abilities!

1). Dr Gowda has
been nominated to the prestigious post of member of the academic
senate of MAHE - Manipal Academy of Higher Education - a deemed
university.

Gowda has taken over as the Chairman of Turf Authorities of India
for the year 2005-2006. This was decided at a meeting of
the Turf Authorities of India which was held at Chennai on 7.3.2005

Gowda has been unanimously elected as the chairman and senior
steward of the Bangalore Turf Club. He has been a member
of the BTC for more than a decade and has served as a steward
of the BTC for the past six years

Dr Bhaskar Achar,
a 1963 batch student of BMC, presently practicing as a consultant
gynaecologist at Buffalo, New York, has been quietly helping the
community by arranging medical camps and sponsoring the Kodagu
marathon for years!! He strongly believes that the community must
receive encouragement in various fields like education, sports
and health care. He has a very simple philosophy - "We must
help our college, our community and our country"

Gerard V Aranha
Dr Gerard V Aranha,
Chief of Surgical Oncology, Loyola University, Illinois, added
another feather to his 'over crowded'
cap, when he was recently awarded the 'Distinguished Physician
Award' by the Indian American Medical Association of Illinois.
Dr Aranha says,
' It is special to me because it is the first award I have received
from an Indian clinical group'.

has achieved the distinction of being honoured as a 'Globalperson'
by the Kannada Koota of UAE. The BMC Alumni Association is proud

U B S Prakash - 21 June 2004
Dr Udaya Bhanu Suryaprakash, an
alumnus of BMC and a Chest Physician by profession, working at
the Mayo Clinic, has been elected as the President of the Association
of Chest Physicians of America. He is the first overseas doctor
to occupy this prestigious chair in the 105 year history of the
Association of Chest Physicians. The BMC Alumni Association congratulates
Dr Suryaprakash.
Dr H Sudarshan

The alumni association is proud
announce the cooption of the internationally renowned Dr Sudarshan
on the executive committee of he Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee
and as an invitee member of the association.
Dr Sudarshan's CV runs into 3 pages! He is presently an Adjunct
Professor in IGNOU and the Vigilence Director, Karnataka Lokayukta.
